One of the main thrusts of Project Santiago is to encourage people to sponsor children in the Santiago area of the Dominican Republic. By concentrating on this one geographic area, we hope to demonstrate that we can eventually improve the quality of life in Santiago through the wise use and leveraging of our resources. In fact, there are indications that is already beginning to happen. To date approximately 150 children have been sponsored by Project Santiago members through Children International. Working vacations have been organized as well as several visitations of sponsored children. If you are interested in sponsoring a child with the option of some day visiting them, please read on.

Who is Children International? Founded in 1936, Children International is a non-profit organization that currently has over 18 projects and is aiding over 300,000 children and their families in over 11 countries.
What is Children International's mission? Children International's mission is to help children living in dire poverty. This is accomplished through the generosity of contributors that provide children with program benefits to meet their basic needs, enhance their human dignity, and raise their physical and educational levels in a meaningful, lasting way.
What is sponsorship? Child Sponsorship establishes a relationship between individual donors and sponsored children. Sponsors provide a monthly gift of $30, which is used to help provide benefits for their sponsored children. Children International has chosen sponsorship as a means for helping needy children because they have found that pairing one child with one sponsor is the most effective way to receive consistent gifts from donors . . . and therefore provide stable, ongoing benefits and services to the children. Additional information can be found on the sponsorship kits or the Children International website.
How do I sponsor a child? Project Santiago maintains an inventory of children that are available for sponsorship in the Santiago area through Children International. Sponsorship kits can be obtained by contacting Rick Raymondor accessed over the internet by contacting Children International. This special link is provided as a means of viewing children in the Santiago are that are currently available to sponsor. By clicking this SPONSOR A CHILD NOW button, you will be redirected to the Children International site for child selection. Please send an email to Rick Raymond at Project Santiago after you have selected a child to sponsor and we will keep you informed of upcoming Project Santiago events including mission trips and child visitation trips. Did you know that Project Santiago is now concentrating sponsorship efforts in the Cienfuegos area of Santiago?? This will allow us to really 'dial in' on our efforts to improve a community that is one of the most impoverished in the Dominican Republic and home to Dan's Place. Sponsor your child now in the Cienfuegos area and have the option of meeting them on one of the trips that Project Santiago has planned this year. Because of our mission trips to the Santo Domingo area, we are also encouraging sponsors to also choose kids from Santo Domingo. Why use Children International for Sponsorships? Children Int'l has always delivered a low cost/highly efficient model for child sponsorship. There is no way that Project Santiago could build its' own infrastructure and deliver comparable results for double or even triple the monthly support fee of $30 that Children Int'l charges. From the Home Office in Kansas City to the Field Offices in Santiago, Children International has assembled a professional staff with compassionate, caring hearts.Feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
